During the Fourth International Symposium on Tibetan Plateau, Prof. Li Jiayang, Vice President of CAS, inspect the construction site of ITP’s Lahsa branch, accompanied by Prof. Yao Tandong, director of ITP. He also listens to the work report made by Gao Xing, assistant director of ITP. Other people sitting in on the report conference are Fu Bojie, director of the Bureau of Resources and Environment, Fan Weiming, its assistant director, Wu Liguang, Security Department of General Office in CAS, Zhao Zhigang, deputy chief in the Office of Important Programs within the Bureau of Planning and Wang Hui, deputy chief in the Office of Geosciences in the Bureau of Resources and Environment.
Having heard the report, Prof. Li Jiayang expressed his approval to the planning and carrying out of the construction work in Lahsa and addressed the importance of this project in the innovative project of CAS. He emphasized the significance of building ITP’s Lahsa branch into the frontier for carrying out field monitoring and studies. He also reiterated CAS’s expectation of ITP: to build a world advanced and leading research institute in studying the Tibetan Plateau.
The construction of Lahsa branch will be accomplished next August.
