Officials of Tibet Autonomous Region hold farewells for expedition crew

After two days’ adjustment to Plateau living conditions, the Fourth Complex Scientific Expedition to Qomolangma (Mt. Everest) was ready to embark on their journey. To encourage the crew to challenge the world peak, officials from the government of Tibet Autonomous Region, such as Vice Chairman Wu Yingjie,Vice Secretary Dong Junshe and Head of the Department of Science and Technology Duo Ji, held a farewell meeting in Lhasa on March 31st for these expedition scientists and scholars.  

The Government of Tibet Autonomous Region has been very cooperative and supportive in the whole process of the construction of ITP’s Lhasa Branch. On acknowledging CAS’s complex expedition to Qomolangma this time, it offered its unstinting support, thus smoothed the schedule of the expedition and series of research, in the hope that the scientific research on the Plateau will serve the coordinated and sustainable development of Tibetan society and economy.

The expedition team is to arrive at the foot of Mt Qomolangma later today.
