General Secretary of International Glaciological Society (IGS), Prof. Magnus Mar Magnusson arrived in Beijing on April 25^th, 2005 for his visit with professors from ITP and China Meteorological Administration (CMA), hoping to make a sound preparation for the coming International Symposium on High-Elevation Glaciers and Climate Record in 2005, held in Lanzhou this September.

Prof. Qin Dahe, CAS academician and Administrator of CMA held talks with him on miscellaneous questions concerning the September symposium and development of Chinese glaciology. Present at the meeting were also Chen Zhenlin, Deputy Director of the Division of Foreign Affairs in CMA, Prof. Liu Xiaohan, Deputy Director of ITP and some professors from both units.
