Academician Feng Zongwei thought of climate change over and outside the forest. ‘The comparison between this change and the change inside the forest must be very interesting.’ He said. He also proposed to conduct monitoring of hydrological variation near the station in a small scale.
According to Academician Zheng Du, monitoring of nearby hydrological chemistry needed be noted. Prof Wu Sugong thought it worth studying in the evolution of pioneer vegetations after glacier retreat and their response to climate change.
Acknowledging that the station has been monitoring mass balance of four glaciers in the nearby valleys, the specialists felt it necessary. They were convinced that, such a station is significant for the study of unique mountainous environment and its development under global change. It will also greatly contribute to local ecological construction, environmental protection and sustainable development of social economy.
