Geophysical research undergoes on the Tibetan Plateau

Date:2007-05-20

From May 9, 2007, ITP research staff professors Zhao Junmeng and Liu Hongbing led their crew into the northern Qiangtang no man’s area, West Tibet, to set up an array of broad-band mobile seismostations in the region. Despite instrumental shortage and adverse natural environment, the team succeeded in setting up the equipment and getting it running, though some area was left blank with seismostations. The scientific staff were to climb over the Kunlun mountain in their further effort to establish more seismic array there for the study of geodynamics on the Tibetan Plateau.
