Japanese Shinshu University professors interest in Tibetan environmental study
From Aug.3rd to the 8th, two professors from the Alpine Comprehensive Research Institute (ACRI), Shinshu University of Japan visited the ITP’s Lhasa campus and Nam Co field monitoring station. Prof. Ma Yaoming and Associate Prof. Zhou Shiqiao welcomed them and guided them on the tour.
Through introduction, both Japanese professors acknowledged the operation and lab construction of the Lhasa campus, as well as the scientific task of the Nam Co station. They also sampled lake and water samples at different depths to study paleao-environment of the region and its hydrology, and tried drilling some lake sediment from the Nam Co.
They looked high upon the ITP’s effort in constructing field stations, and expressed their will to actively push forward bilateral cooperation between the ACRI and ITP in hydrology, environment and ecology study.
