Nepalese scientists involved in the international third pole cooperation

Invited by Prof. Tandong Yao, Prof. Lochan P. Devkota, head of the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal visited the ITPCAS in Beijing from 16 to 25, May, 2009.
During his visit, scientific staff of the TEL, ITPCAS exchanged academic notes with him on the hydrological study in the Himalayan region, and heard his report on ‘Climate change and its impact on water resources of Nepal,’ which was presented on 24, May, 2009. Withholding the equal interest in the environmental study in the Third Pole region, both sides reached a MoU on the joint study of the region (including Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayan-Hindu Kush), which would guide the future cooperation between the ITPCAS and the Tribhuvan University in Nepal.
The Sino-Nepal cooperation would also work as a good start, followed by the cooperation of the ITPCAS with more research units in countries around the Tibetan Plateau.
