The NAMORS tends to be a science popularization platform

Date:2009-07-01

Intrigued by the high topography and miscellaneous scientific activities evolving around climate and environment, Zhong Ling, a teenager newly graduated from the High School Affiliated of Renmin University of China, visited the NAMORS recently and experienced the academic atmosphere at the station. She summarized her life at the station as harsh yet fruitful as her understanding of scientific research on the Tibetan Plateau was greatly enhanced.

Her trip to the NAMORS was approved and supported by Prof. Kang Shichang, Director of the NAMORS who encouraged youngsters to participate in scientific experiment at school and join scientific activities in the field to cultivate their quality in science, as well as a scientific worldly-view.
Under such a guiding theory, the NAMORS has actively shouldered a role as a science popularization platform, welcoming the public and introducing to them Chinese Tibetan Plateau research progresses, together with a sense of environmental protection. At the present stage, it also plans to enlist some volunteers enthusiastic with the Tibetan Plateau and eager to share with the public their understanding of science in concern.
