On July 2, 2009, Mr Shourong Wang, deputy director of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) visited the Qomolangma Station for Atmospheric and Environmental Observation and Research (QOMS), accompanied by Vice President Deji of the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) and Director Shanyun Song of the TAR Meteorological Bureau.
They were introduced of the running status of the field monitoring and observation equipment, as well as of the station. They were also informed of the academic goals of the QOMS in scientific research. Deputy Director Wang acknowledged highly the devotion of the station staff to persistently observe and monitor under the harsh plateau environment, and showed his support to ensure the smooth operation of the station.
