Since the beginning of August, 2009, ITP Lhasa campus has welcomed several visiting delegates of scientists. Among them, the Third Pole Environment (TPE) workshop attendees were shown around the campus and laboratories in Lhasa in mid-August, led by Prof. Kang Shichang, for a better understanding of academic research environment, internet access and talents cultivation on the Tibetan Plateau. Shortly afterwards, expedition crews of the 5th ISTP/24 HKT joint conference visited the Lhasa campus, including the cold room, laboratories of environmental research and continental collision and plateau uplift, as well as the cold room. They were greatly impressed by the considerate logistics and holistic equipment for academic research in Lhasa and expressed willingness for joint research in fields of common interest.
