Chinese scientists addressed tectonic uplift and environmental changes on northeastern Plateau

Date:2010-04-08

Reconstruction has been undertaken by Chinese scientific staff on the coupling between tectonic uplift and environmental changes along Qaidam-Linxia-Liupanshan on the Tibetan Plateau. This has also been a key directory research project within CAS third generation of Knowledge Innovation Program.

During the project-assessing conference

It underwent the assessment at Beijing on April 2, 2010, and won general approval among participating experts considering the scientific discovery it made in the past few years, potentiality for further research, and contribution in talents cultivation and scientific force upgrading.

The project has so far harvested in breakthroughs in the following four aspects, including the processes and modeling of northeastern Plateau uplift (led by Prof. SONG Chunhui of Lanzhou University), eco-environmental variation for organics in northeastern Plateau (led by associate Prof. WANG Yongli of Lanzhou Institute of Geology), cryospheric evolution and plateau uplift in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau (led by ITP Prof. YI Chaolu), and integrated study of uplift processes-environmental changes coupling in northeastern Tibetan Plateau (led by ITP Prof. FANG Xiaomin).
