ITP seeks academic exchanges in understanding the Tibetan Plateau formation

Date:2012-03-05

Invited by ITP Prof. FANG Xiaomin, Prof. PAN Guitang, winner of the Special-class Award of the State Scientific and Technological Progresses, visited ITP Beijing on Feb. 15, 2012.

Prof. Pan has long been engaged in the study of regional geology, geo-tectonics, neo-tectonics, and regional metallogenia in the Tibetan Plateau and other big mountains in West China. During this visit, he reported on his study of “Geotectonics of the Tibetan Plateau and its evolution”, presenting an overview of their latest progresses in the geological survey of the Tibetan Plateau, and also introducing a large amount of original findings and research achievement on relevant study.

His visit was a good start for timely communications of Chinese geologists in Tibetan Plateau research. A mutually benefitted cooperation would be established between ITP and Prof. Pan’s group on studying the formation of the Tibetan Plateau and relevant metallogenia theory in the region.
