Major international (regional) joint research project

Integration study on glacier and glacio-lake changes on southern Tibetan Plateau

PI: Prof. Tandong Yao

Energy-water cycle on the Tibetan Plateau and its influences on climate change in China and East Asia

PI: Prof. Yaoming Ma

Within this program, researchers of ITP, together with some scientific staff from CAREERI, will further their study with their Japanese collaborators on the Tibetan Plateau in the next three to five years. During this period, the researchers will carry out scientific experiments and long-term monitoring of the atmosphere, glaciers and permafrost on the Plateau on temporal and space scales. They will also apply statistical simulation and satellite observation data to the study to fully understand the underlying surfaces of the region, as well as the air-land interrelationship and water-energy circulation there in different seasons.
