Invited by ITP Prof. YAO Tandong, Helgi Bjornsson and Thora Ellen Thorhallsdottir, professors at University of Iceland visited ITP from May 26 to June 7, 2012. Their visit included mutual academic exchanges and an academic seminar on May 31.

During the seminar, presentations were given by Profs. Helgi and Thora Ellen, respectively, on an overview of glaciers in Iceland, and rates and patterns of proglacial ecosystem development in Iceland. The presentations were followed by discussions and expressions of intensions for further cooperation.

Academic exchanges between Chinese and Icelandic scientists have begun since 2010. The visit of Icelandic scientists to ITP will further mutual understandings, and lead to more intensified cooperation in the near future.
