Water-heat flux monitored on the NAMORS

Under the auspices of the EC’s 7th framework (entitled CEOP-AEGIS) and the DFG-SPP program, German scientists join hands with Chinese scientific staff of the ITPCAS in monitoring and observation of heat and water flux on the Nam Co region in late June, 2009. After careful site selection and hard work, scientists from both countries succeeded in setting up such monitoring equipment as CO2/H2O fluxplate (with the mode as LI-COR 7500), three-dimensional anemoscope (CSAT3), four component actinograph (Kipp & Zonen), seven-layer soil temperature/ humidity sonde, lake temperature sonde and rain gauge in the region. For each sonde, a set of adjustification equipment was added to enable the apparatus to adjust automatically with seasons, thus to enlarge the temporal coverage under observation.
Apart from the Nam Co region, scientific staff also expedited to the Nagqu and Mt Everest regions to select possible sites for a wider-range study of water-heat flux and related energy-matter exchange, which would help understand the Asian monsoon, climate changes and roles of eco-system therein.
