Yongkang Xue: Spatial and temporal characteristics of Land surface/regional climate Interactions over Tibetan Plateau

Invited by Prof. MA Yaoming, Prof. Yongkang Xue of UCLA is conducting an academic visit to ITP on July 14. During his visit, he will share with ITP scientific staff on his study of climate modeling over the Tibetan Plateau.

Report: Spatial and temporal characteristics of Land surface/regional climate Interactions over Tibetan Plateau

Venue: Meeting room on the second floor of ITP office building

Time: 3.30 pm, Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Dr YongkangXue obtained his Ph.D. in meteorology in the University of Utah in 1987 and has since studies land surface modeling, land/atmosphere interactions, climate change, regional climate downscaling, and remote sensing. Using coupled land-surface/atmosphere models, he has conducted numerous sensitivity and prediction studies to investigate the impact of land-surface processes, including vegetation biophysical processes, land-cover and land use change, and land-surface parameters and parameterizations, on regional climate and global climate variability and anomalies. He also works on the remote sensing methodology for atmospheric and land surface variables. Dr. Xue has more than 100 papers been published and is a reviewer for more than 40 professional journals and many government founding agencies.

Please attend the report and share the outstanding academic vision and thoughts!
